When my grown-up goes on a trip for work: a story to read together

A short story for a big moment, in your child's own voice. Add names if you like and read it on screen, or print it as a little folded book. Show a calendar with the days crossed off, and plan a call or video chat at the same time each day.

🧳

My grown-up has to go on a trip for work. My grown-up will be away for some nights.

🗓️

We look at the calendar. I can cross off a day each night, and count the days until my grown-up is back.

🏠

I will stay home, and someone I love will take care of me.

📞

My grown-up will call me. We can talk and say good night.

💬

I might miss my grown-up. I might feel sad, or mad, or fine. All those feelings are okay.

🖼️

I can draw a picture, or keep something of my grown-up's near my bed.

🤗

When the trip is done, my grown-up comes home, and I get a very big hug.
