A new baby in our family: a story to read together

A short story for a big moment, in your child's own voice. Add names if you like and read it on screen, or print it as a little folded book. Read it before the baby comes and again after. Let your child add what they notice.

🏠

Our family is getting bigger. The baby is coming to live with us.

👶

A baby is very small. A baby cannot talk, walk or play yet. A baby cries to say, "I need something."

🍼

My grown-up will spend a lot of time feeding and holding the baby. That is what babies need.

💛

My grown-up still loves me just as much. There is plenty of love to go around.

🧸

I can help. I can sing a song, bring a diaper, or show the baby my favorite toy.

🤫

Sometimes the baby will be sleeping, and we will play quietly. Sometimes I will feel grumpy. That is okay.

🤗

I am a big kid and I am still me. I get hugs, stories and special time with my grown-up, too.
