Learning to use the potty: a story to read together

A short story for a big moment, in your child's own voice. Add names if you like and read it on screen, or print it as a little folded book. Read it when your child shows interest, with no pressure.

To fold: print on one sheet of letter paper, landscape, cut along the middle line to the center, and fold. Or print and staple the pages as they are.

🚽

My body makes pee and poop. Everybody's body does. Grown-ups and big kids use the toilet.

🧍

Sometimes I feel a squeezy feeling. That means my body is saying, "It's time to go."

🚶

I can tell my grown-up, and we walk to the bathroom together.

👖

I pull down my pants and sit on the potty. I can sit for a little while.

💧

Sometimes pee or poop comes out in the potty. Sometimes it does not yet. Both are okay.

🧼

When I am done, I wipe, flush if I want to, and wash my hands with soap.

🌟

Sometimes there are accidents. Accidents happen to everyone who is learning. My grown-up helps me, and I try again.
