How we write and check Peabody Parents
Where our facts come from, who checks them, and what we never write.
Where facts come from
Health, safety and money facts come from primary sources only, never from a company's blog. The ones we use most:
- The CDC, including its “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” milestone checklists
- The American Academy of Pediatrics and HealthyChildren.org
- NIH's Safe to Sleep campaign
- The World Health Organization and the NHS
- The FDA and the Consumer Product Safety Commission, for warnings and recalls
- ZERO TO THREE and the Harvard Center on the Developing Child
Each page lists its sources and the date it was last checked. A page whose facts haven't been checked isn't published.
Who reviews health pages
Pages about sleep, feeding, starting solids, teething, growth and milestones are reviewed by a named, board-certified pediatrician before they're published, and show the reviewer's name and the date. Until a reviewer has read a page, it isn't published.
What we never write
- Symptom checkers or pages that diagnose
- Medicine doses
- Opinion pieces on vaccines (we link to the CDC's schedule)
- Pregnancy, birth or baby-name pages
- “Best of” product lists with buy buttons
How pages are written
Pages are written by Peabody's editors with help from AI, and checked by people against the sources before they go up. Bylines are real: a page is signed by a named person or by "Peabody editors", never by a cartoon character.
