You need: anything you like to read.
- Settle in with your baby on your lap or beside you.
- Read whatever you're reading, out loud: a novel, a magazine, a recipe.
- Read with expression, as if it were a story for them.
- Stop when your baby wants to feed, sleep or be held.
Builds: language and talking. At this age it's your voice that matters, and reading aloud fills a quiet hour with words.
