Wake window planner
When might your baby's next sleep be due?
Cleveland Clinic lists typical wake windows, the time a baby stays awake between sleeps, by age. Enter your baby's age and when they woke, and this planner shows the range of times the next sleep might be due. They are ranges, not rules, and nothing is sent to us.
Checked October 29, 2026.
The next sleep might be due between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
That is a typical wake window of 2 hours to 4 hours for 5 to 7 months, after waking at the time you entered. It is a range, not a rule: watch your baby, not the clock.
Total sleep: the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, endorsed by the AAP, says 12 to 16 hours in 24 hours, naps included, for babies 4 to 12 months.
All the ranges this planner uses
- Birth to 1 month: 30 minutes to 1 hour
- 1 to 3 months: 1 hour to 2 hours
- 3 to 4 months: 1 hour 15 minutes to 2 hours 30 minutes
- 5 to 7 months: 2 hours to 4 hours
- 7 to 10 months: 2 hours 30 minutes to 4 hours 30 minutes
- 10 to 12 months: 3 hours to 6 hours
From Cleveland Clinic's wake windows table (April 2024). It has no row for 4 to 5 months, and cites no studies.
What this planner does not do
It does not give nap lengths, a number of naps or a bedtime, because we found no pediatric source for them. The wake windows page explains how thin the evidence is.
