You need: plastic cups or a colander, your baby's usual bath.

  1. Give your baby a couple of cups in the bath.
  2. Show them how to fill one and dump it out.
  3. Pour water through a colander and watch it rain.
  4. Say "Full!" and "Empty!" as you play.

Builds: thinking and problem solving and language and talking. Full and empty, in and out: the bath is a great place to learn them.

Safety: Stay within arm's length with a hand on your baby the whole time. Young children can drown in an inch or two of water, so empty the tub as soon as you finish.
