How to play

Bug safari4 and 5 year olds · about 15 minutes

You need: paper, a pencil.

  1. Go outside and gently lift a log or rock to look underneath.
  2. Look at what's there without touching.
  3. Draw what you found and count the legs.
  4. Put the rock back gently, just as it was.

Builds: thinking and problem solving and language and talking. Looking closely at living things is how young scientists start.

Safety: Look, don't touch: some bugs bite or sting. Lift rocks toward you, away from your feet, and wash hands afterward.
